Description:

The short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is an exceptional tour for those who are short in time but eager to hike a real Inca Trail, this tours heads you to visit some spectacular Inca Sites and allows to see part of the wild life through flora and fauna, camping is not necesary and experience in hiking neither.

Itinerary

Day 1.- Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Km 104 Chachabamba – Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town)

This day starts picking you up from your respective hotel, we normally start at 4:00 in the morning, our private transport is in charge to drive you until Ollantaytambo, a small town where the train station is located, we catch one of the first train on the way to Aguas Calientes but our stop has to be at Chachabamba – Km 104 of the railway, there is where we start the hike, almost 8 miles is the total distance that we cover during this day, the end of the Inca Trail is in Machu Picchu but a previous view at the Sun Gate makes to stay there for a while enjoying the amazing landscape of Machu Picchu and surroundings.
The visit in Machu Picchu Inca Site is not for a long time, since the day 2 is organized for that. After taking some pictures of the citadel, we catch one of the bus which goes to Aguas Calientes "Machu Picchu Town", it takes 30 minutes then a very nice and warm hotel awaits for our staying there.

The first day ends having a peruvian dinner where stories and laughs are shared meanwhile.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Our tour guide organizes the schedule for this day. We have to catch one of the buses to Machu picchu followed by the tour which normally takes 2 hours and a half, the most important places of the citadel are properly explained by our tour guide, once the tour finishes, the bus transport to Aguas Calientes is the following step to complete this tour, you will have enough time to have lunch wherever you decide at the town of Machu Picchu, our the train to Ollantaytambo departs in the afternoon and a private transport awaits for us at the train station, it wil drive us back to Cusco.

ADDITIONALS AND UPGRADES

Climb to Huaynapicchu Mountain:

It is a peak located behind the Archaeological Site of Machu Picchu “when we see taken from the classic photo place”, the climb to Huaynapicchu Mountain takes between 45 minutes to 1 hour. The trail consists starting with some flat and downhill sections followed by a long uphill stair until the top, the views are completely different to the regular ones. It is important to book in advance since there are limited spots each day, the price for this circuit is also more expensive than others. Climb to Machu Picchu Mountain:

Another additional circuit to do is the Machu Picchu Mountain, the hike up to the top takes between 1 hour and a half to 2 hours through the ancestral trail, the views from each of the resting points are stunning and perfect for the panoramic photos, there is also a limited availability and also with an extra cost. Train Service Upgrade:

The train tickets from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes and the return are included in the regular service “Expedition or Voyager”, since there are some other services, our customers can upgrade their train service but with an extra cost, Vistadome or 360° are some of them, it is necessary to ask before and see the availability.

Hotel Accommodation:

The Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 2 Days 1 Nights includes a night accommodation in Aguas Calientes, a 3 stars hotel is booked for this tour but you can also upgrade the service, there are 4 and 5 stars hotels in Aguas Calientes and the availability request is important to be asked in advance.
