The Sacred Valley of the Incas is a majestic place, not only for the historical legacy left by the ancient Peruvians, but also for the wonderful landscape it encompasses.
Hiking the Sacred Valley of the Incas is much more than a tour; it's a journey into the past, the present, and even more so, the future. Enjoy its welcoming population, its traditions and customs, as well as its wonderful landscapes rich in natural and cultural history.
Our adventure to the Sacred Valley of the Incas begins in the city of Cusco. We will pick you up in the morning at scheduled time. Our tourist transport will drive through open valleys with panoramic views, where the first imposing mountain seen in the distance will be Salkantay (6,271 m – 20,574 ft). After approximately one hour, we will arrive to Cruzpata “an Andean Community”, Cruzpata is the place where we will disembark from the van, to take our backpacks, to tie our shoelaces and to begin our hike.
Led by our expert local guide, our first journey will be along the undulating path that connects Quechua-speaking communities, where we will be able to interact with the locals. This section will take approximately two hours until we reach the Moray Archaeological Center. Moray is one of the most important and historically mysterious sites located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will explore around the circular terraces that Moray comprises. Our guide will provide you a dynamic and accurate information.
After the explanation and visit of Moray, our adventure continues toward the Maras district, here is where we will enjoy a delicious lunch in one of the tourist restaurants.
The hike continues on the way to the impressive Maras Salt Mines. This time, the route will feature very moderate descents and unusual scenic views. Along the way, you can see the Vilcanota mountain range and some remaining glaciers, the Chicon snow-capped Mountain is the most prominent.
The impressive handcrafted salt pools are located at the bottom of one of the Maras ravines, we are able to see them from high in the mountains. We will have the opportunity to access and enjoy them, to take as many photographs as possible and to listen our guide's explanations.
Once the visit to the Maras Salt Mines is over, our tourist transport will be waiting to drive us back to Cusco. Our adventure through the Sacred Valley of the Incas concludes with a trip that regulary takes 1 hour and 30 minutes.
