Description:

There are places never described in book guides, but ends up staying with you once you discover it. This is the hike to the Poc Poc Waterfall, a hidden natural beauty in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, easily accessible from the traditional town of Chinchero. What begins as a hike without many expectations, turns into one of the favorite experiences in Cusco.

Itinerary

Cusco - Chinchero - Poc Poc Waterfall - Urquillos - Urubamba - Cusco

Our adventurous journey to the Poc Poc Waterfall begins in Cusco City. We will pick you up from your hotel at 6:00 in the morning, still early, but essential for logistic reasons due to our weather conditions.

The drive from Cusco will be for an approximately 45 minutes until reaching the Chinchero District, a place located at 3,700 meters above sea level, a bit difficult to get oxygen, but the landscape supplements what is insufficient.

After a body stretching, we are ready to begin our adventure. From the town of Chinchero, our hiking route heads east (Sunrise direction), crossing the lower part of the agricultural terraces of the Chinchero Archaeological Center. We will also be able to see agricultural fields of potatoes, barley, and corn on the lef side. The path will be entirely downhill, following an ancient Inca Trail built more than 500 years ago, in addition, the magnificent panoramic views from each resting point will enhance our hike.

Approximately two hours after hiking, we will arrive at the stunning and beautiful Poc Poc Waterfall, impressive from the first moment we see it and enough to captivate us with its beauty.

Thousands of photos and selfies to remind after, a resting moment while we enjoy this natural wonder, eating snacks and taking sips of water is what we share in this hidden globe spot before continuing our journey.

Finished our stay at the Poc Poc Waterfall, backpacks on and we continue the hike through Queuña and Eucalyptus forests. This last part will take us about two and a half more hours until we reach the town of Urquillos, place where our transport awaits for us.

From Urquillos we will drive to Urubamba, an urban city immersed in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, we will stop at one of the tourist restaurants properly adapted for visitors, where we will have enough time for lunch. As last, we will drive back to the City of Cusco for 1 hour, our arrival to Cusco is estimated by 3:00 in the afternoon.
