The Salkantay Trek 4d has become as one of the main routes to Machupicchu, now hundreds of tourists from different places do this trek, one of the most spectacular views on this trip is the Salkantay Mountain that comes to be the second highest peak of Cusco "6271 masl" in addition to the landscape environment quite calm and with distinct microclimates day by day.

Itinerary

Day 1. - Cusco - Mollepata - Soraypampa

The tour begins with the pick-up from your respective hotel at the predetermined time usually 5:00 in the morning, we will take a trip of 3 and a half hours approximately in a private tourist transport towards the district of Mollepata place where we will supply breakfast and where we begin our walk of approximately 7 hours until arriving at the town of Soraypampa.

Day 2. - Soraypampa - Salkantay Pass - Chaullay

This will be one of the most difficult days of the whole tour because we will have to ascend to the highest point of the route "Salkantay Pass "4600 masl" the walk to the top lasts approximately 3 hours and after a short rest we will descend towards the eye of the jungle, there we can feel the change of weather quite abrupt so it is essential to take some coca leaves for altitude sickness, we will arrive at Huayrac, place where we will have lunch for the lapse of an hour and a half, then we will continue with our walk towards Chaullay where we will spend the second night.

Day 3.- Chaullay - La Playa (Sahuayaco) - Hidroelectrica

This day is basically characterized by the amount of vegetation that can be seen, plantations of coca, tea, coffee, fruit trees and wildlife will be part of our walk along the 6 hours of hiking to the village called La Playa where we will have a delicious lunch then the transport for 1.30 hours to Hidroelectrica, after that we catch the train to Machupicchu Town or Aguas Calientes, there we have a nice hotel where to stay.

Day 4.- Aguas Calientes - Machu picchu - Aguas Calientes - Cusco

The big day arrived, we wake up very early in the morning to start with the ascent to the citadel of Machupicchu, the journey takes 2 hours and we will have to be in the control of the citadel no later than 6:00 in the morning, the tour with the guide begins at 6:30 approximately and has a duration of 3 hours, once finished the tour you can stay in Machupicchu or Aguas Calientes until your train departure (to be defined), 2 hours takes the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo then 1.30 hours to Cusco.

Climb to Huaynapicchu Mountain:

It is a peak located behind the Archaeological Site of Machu Picchu “when we see taken from the classic photo place”, the climb to Huaynapicchu Mountain takes between 45 minutes to 1 hour. The trail consists starting with some flat and downhill sections followed by a long uphill stair until the top, the views are completely different to the regular ones. It is important to book in advance since there are limited spots each day, the price for this circuit is also more expensive than others. Climb to Machu Picchu Mountain:

Another additional circuit to do is the Machu Picchu Mountain, the hike up to the top takes between 1 hour and a half to 2 hours through the ancestral trail, the views from each of the resting points are stunning and perfect for the panoramic photos, there is also a limited availability and also with an extra cost. Train Service Upgrade:

The train tickets from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes and the return are included in the regular service “Expedition or Voyager”, since there are some other services, our customers can upgrade their train service but with an extra cost, Vistadome or 360° are some of them, it is necessary to ask before and see the availability.
