Description:

There are many places to visit in the department of Cusco and one of them is the Humantay Lake or the Turquoise Lagoon, currently visited by many national and foreign tourists, very crowded by the proximity to Cusco and easy access.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Mollepata - Soraypampa - Humantay Lake - Cusco

Early in the morning we will pick you up from your hotel, we will catch a private tourist transport and make a trip of about 3 hours towards the town of Mollepata where we will provide of a delicious breakfast, then continue on our transport to the beginning of the hike "Soraypampa", that town has an altitude of 3900 masl, after a short rest we will start our trek to the Humantay Lagoon, the ascent will last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, once we arrive at the place, we will be able to enjoy the wonderful landscape and our guide will be in charge of providing the correct information and necessary about the place, History and tradition that he will share with you.

After the visit of the lagoon we will start our return to Soraypampa where lunch in the open field will be ready for our arrival, then we will take the transport back to the City of Cusco arriving at approximately 7:00 p.m.

Horse Back Riding:

To hire a horse for the Huamantay Lake, follow these steps:

  • Book in Advance or On-Site: You can arrange a horse through a tour agency in Cusco or hire one directly from locals at the trailhead at the beginning of the hike.
  • You can negotiate the Price: Prices range from 80–100 soles (20– 30 Usd.) one way. Bargaining is common.
  • Hire a local horseman: Most horses come with a horseman who walks alongside. They don't speak much English, so basic Spanish or gestures help.
  • Start Early: Arrive early (before 7 AM) for better availability, especially in peak season.
    Cash Only: highgly recommended to bring Peruvian soles, as card payments aren’t accepted.
  • Know the Limitations: Horses take you most of the way but not the final steep section, which requires walking.
